This contribution analyzes the computer efficiency obtained with different computer frameworks for the dynamic operation simulation of the synchronous machine using a phase coordinates model, represented in the time domain by a set of Ordinary Differential Equations (ODE's). The periodic steady state solution of the nonlinear electric system is efficiently obtained with the application of a Newton technique based on a Numerical Differentiation procedure that allows a fast convergence to the Limit Cycle and thus to the steady state of the set of state variables representing the dynamics of the entire model. The dynamic response of the same synchronous machine model was obtained with developed code in matlab® and in C++, respectively. An Object Oriented Programming (OOP) approach was used for the later case. A comparison between these computer platforms is presented in terms of computer efficiency for the dynamic operation simulations of the synchronous machine. The case studies were carried-out using a PIV, 3.0 GHz PC computer.
