Abstract: A method for quantitative evaluation of the molecularorientation in thin Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films byFT-IR transmission and reflection-absorption (RA)spectroscopy is presented and applied to the study ofthe 11-monolayer LB film of barium salt of anazobenzene-containing long-chain fatty acid. This wasalso applied to the study of temperature dependence ofthe molecular orientation in alternate LB filmsconsisting of a phenylpyrazine-containing long-chainfatty acid and deuterated stearic acid as well as inthose consisting of their barium salts. At the sametime, pyroelectricities of these films were measured inthe temperature range from $MIN@30 to 60$DGR@C, and theresults were discussed in connection with changes inthe molecular structure and orientation. !8
