Reclamation of flotation tailings from copper mine in the mining and smelting complex Bor

Some research has been done on the flotation tailings in Bor, Majdanpek and Veliki Krivelj, with the aim of reclaiming the degraded areas and protecting the environment against the influence of flotation tailings on the air, water, soil and plants pollution. The information on the possibility of plants growing on the flotation tailings with the aplication of the adequate land - reclamation measures has been obtained by the performance of multiple test experiments with grass mixture, acacia seedlings and bushy types. The following methods have been used for the substratum preparation: Experiment on the substratum without humus addition; experiment on the substratum with the humus addition; experiment on the substratum with the addition of land - reclamation materials: CaCO_3, zeolite and mews manure. The chemical features of the flotation tailings are very unfavourable, and pH value is 2.85. The results obtained by the application of certain methods on the flotation (unfavourable climatic conditions, temperatures up to 35 deg C and 30mm of rain in growing period) range from 10percentto 85percent yield.
