摘要

In the paper an innovative design procedure is proposed to establish some basic guidelines for the design of the die shape in cold extrusion. The design procedure is founded on the integration of Design of Experiment techniques and Numerical Simulations. The former permitted to identify a suitable experimental plan, i.e. a set of die profiles which were subsequently investigated by means of a numerical code. In this way the influence of the die profile on some relevant process or product issues (for instance the pressure distribution on the die shoulder or the accumulated plastic strain distribution in the extruded component) was analyzed. The effectiveness of the numerical results was validated carrying out some extrusion experiments.
