A Network for Gathering and sharing Analytical Methods Related to Ethylene Plant Feed and Product Contaminants

The charter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers' (AIChE) Ethylene Proudcers Committee (EPC) calls for the communication of non-confidential information concerning the manufacture and distribution of ethylene. In support of this objective, the EPC's Feedstock and Product Issues Subcommittee commissioned this report, which deals with the analytical measurement of trace mercury contaminants in ethylene plant feed and product streams. Mercury contamination poses a variety of problems to the ethylene product streams. Mercury contamination poses a variety of problems to the ethylene producer, including threats to safety, health and the environment. It is our hope that dissemination of these test methods will prove valuable in alleviating such problems and, in doing so, contribute to the common good and well-being of the ehtylene industry.
