The paper deals with the wide range of possibilities of using the extrusion process for fiber-reinforced concrete products. Having been in the business of a plant and equipment supplier to the structural clay industry for many decades, where extrusion is a widely accepted shaping process, Haendle can count on their long experience and Know-How in the extrusion technique in which they and their US parent company J.C.Steele of Statesville, N.C. are joint world-leaders This extrusion technology has been successfully adapted to handle fiber-reinforced cement matrixes. Apart from describing the benefits of extrusion over against other forming systems, the paper focuses on the production process, looks at the properties of the raw materials and final products, shows a small extract of the wide application range of FRC-products in the building industry, finally quoting some figures relating to material costs, overall investment and cost comparison with similar products.
