Silica and titania mats consisting of solid fibrils or nano-tubes are promising for biomedical applications.We fabricated those fibrils and nano-tubes by soaking the lyophilized collagen in silica or titania colloidal solutions derived via the sol-gel route.In addition,electro-spun polymers such as polyvinyl alcohol and polyhydroxybutylate (PHB) have been served good templates for those ceramic fibrous mats.Osteoblastic cells like MC3T3-E1 were well proliferated on those mats.
