The developed technology covers Al_2O_3 (preferentially: α-Al_2O_3) membranes with pore sizes from 1 nm up to > 200 nm that exhibit important advantages compared with known sol/gel products of transitional aluminas: 1. increased permeability (reduced specific resistance) due to equiaxed particle and pore shapes, 2. a minimum of flaws improves cut-off characteristics and the strength, 3. the microstructures exhibi an increased chemical and thermal stability. 4. The application on steel substrates is possible using conventional and laser sintering.
