摘要

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a major cause of hospital-acquired infections. Treatment of patients infected with MRSA is very difficult because MrSA is resistant not only to beta-lactams such as methicillin but also to many other antimicrobial agnets. Presnetly, glycopeptides such as vancomycin and teicoplanin are the only antibiotics to which most clinically isolated mRSA strains are susceptible. Emergence of MRSA strains with intermediate-resistance to glycopeptides may become serious clinical problems in the near future. This means that development of new durgs or alternative therapies are urgently necessary.
