With the large increase in Japanese internationalization, a great number of Japanese have gone abroad for tourism, work or study purposes. Unfortunately, some of them have suffered from serious endemics peculiar to the country visited, and have returned to Japan. Among these improted infections, several ones are due to fungal pathogens listed as Class 3 in WHo Microbial biohazards Classification. These improted mycoses are blastomycosis, coccidioidomycosis, histoplasmosis, paracoccidioidomysis and penicilliosis marneffei. The authors report the present situation for the imported mycoses from papers published in Japan as of the end of of October, 1998.
