To study the time-dependent effects of static load on experimental animals, we analyzed the time-course of change in rabbits serum activity of creatine kinase(CK) ,lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) and their iso-forms using biochemical methods, agarose gel electrophoresis and polyacrylamide isoelectric focusing techniques. Our results showed that, in the animals with static load the total CK activities and total LDH activities elevated significantly at various intervals from 3 hr to the end of 12 hr;CK-MM_3, together with the ratio of CK-MM_3 to CK-MM_1, also increased significantly with time from the first 3 hr intervals. There was a progressive shift in the proportion of the LDH isoforms, in which muscular subtype LDH_5 elevated from the first 3 hr interval and the difference was significant compared to the controls. The present study provide useful information that static load can induce higher permeability of cell membrane, resulted in cell damage and release of enzymes into circulation which were indicated as elevated serum enzyme activities.
