The processes defined as thermal cracking (delayed cocking and visbreaking) have been adopted in many refineries. They remain the major option to the heavy oil processing. The goal of these processes is to increase the economical value of the heavy ends (coming from atmospheric or vacuum distillation columns) by transforming them into high added value products (liquefied petroleum gas - LPG, gasoline, diesel, kerosene).
