Hughes' Integrated Service Network Solution for CATV Network

摘要

CATV operators have been broadcasting TV programs over CATV network for a long time. With the increasing of the subscribers, the scale and coverage of the CATV network are expanding. The CATV network's transport medium is a hybrid of optical fibre and coax. Optical fibres are laid from the network center to each optical node, from which coaxes are laid to continue distributing the received signal to every subscriber's home. This structure of network is called HFC(Hybrid Fibre Coax). The HFC network has the nature of high bandwidth which can reach to 1GHz. The band from 50MHz to 550MHz is occupied by analog TV signal, however, plenty of spare bandwidth is not fully utilized.
