As scaffold material, PLA has several obvious weaknesses: biodegrading too fast, acidic degradation product, and hydrophobic. To solve these problems, a series of PLA/chitosan composite materials were prepared in this paper. Cell cultivation and toxicity examination, pyrogen and hypersusceptibility tests were applied in the biographic evaluation. The results indicated that all the materials were negative, conforming to the ISO10993-1. The cell could grow well on the surface. So the PLA/chitosan composite materials have good biocompatibility and can be planted in the body as scaffolds.
