Future automotive interiors will utilize personal computer technology to satisfy the customer's thirst for information. To satisfy the customer's desire for a cost-effective solution, DaimlerChrysler has been exploring the use of a removable computer as the core component of a mobile computing latform. This "bring your own" approach has been demonstrated on two recent concept car systems. Both systems use different display realizations as the visual interface to the driver. The information display system used in each vehicle will be presented (1), along with future possibilities.
