ENERGY EFFICIENT DRIVES FOR SUGAR CRYSTALLISERS

For many years Sugar Industry is on the look out for a reliable, cost effective and energy efficient drive for the Crystallisers. This paper deals with our experience in meeting this challenge. A comprehensive study of many instations for more than two years coupled with the detailed analysis of the conventional double worm drive arrangement has resulted in the development of high efficiency Crystalliser drive described in this Paper. These drives are in operation in various Sugar Mills and have resulted in reduction in installed power by at least 65% in comparison with the conventional worm drive arrangement.
