Energy consumption is a subject of ongoing importance for stock preparation plants due to increasing power prices. Voith Paper has long been taking countermeasures against this trend by continually identifying energy savings and optimization possibilities, not only in systems as a whole, but also in individual operating machines.rnThis paper examines developments in individual machines for energy-saving optimisation. Progress in Low and High consistency pulping components, optimised screening through combinations of rotor and screen basket, the well-proven EcoMizer~(TM) dilution concept for centrifugal cleaning, the High-Tooth disperger fillings and the newly developed Pluralis~(TM) refining plates are discussed. In addition to the progress made in individual machines, advances have also been made in process concepts. The EcoProcess concept minimizes the number of pumps, tanks and towers, enables the use of higher consistency solutions, and finally interlinks the different process modules more closely. This reflects in substantial specific energy consumption reduction of a stock preparation plant.
