Over the last 15 years the need for coatings to improve analytical data on sulfurs and mercury has broadened. New Source Performance Standards for Petroleum Refineries, 40CFR60 Subpart Ja, go into effect in November of 2015 and inert flow paths will improve low-level sulfur analysis. New regulations for mercury emissions from coal fired boilers have been enacted and industry sampling initiatives for natural gas and oil wells also continue to drive the demand for inert sample flow paths. Looking forward, Tier 3 Standards for sulfur content in gasoline and diesel will require re-fitting and re-tooling of analytical equipment to meet reporting standards. As a result, sampling system performance must be rugged and stable even in the most challenging and corrosive environments while still chemically inert.
