Status of Water Treatment in Japanese Fossil Power Plant

Japanese thermal power plant traced the history of 100 years since the first commercial operation in 1897. Now, current maximum power generation capacity of units amounted to 1000 MW, and steam pressure reached 31.6 MPa(322kgf/cm~2), and steam temperature increased to 593 ℃ . With, the advance of power generation capacity and thermal efficiency in fossil power generation, water chemistry technology has undergone many changes. Alkali treatment was employed in the 1940s. Phosphate treatment has been employed in the 1950s. All Volatile Treatment ( AVT ) has been epmloyed in the late 1950s. Recently, Oxygenated Water Treatment has been successfully introduced in the early 1990s. Nowadays, the application of low concentration sodium hydroxide treatment are also given serious consideration. Status of water treatment in Japanese fossil power plant is described below.
