Inexpensive electric power is strongly demanded by users to cope with the expected increase in power consumption and to be competitive in the international market. One way for this purpose is to reduce operating cost by effective treatment of boiler feed water, other than reducing initial investments to power plants and attached water treatment equipment. Optimum operation of the water treatment equipment can be obtained with flexible adjustments of operating conditions apart from the initial design basis. The experience with our systems delivered to date demonstrates that the operating costs including chemical cost and maintenance fee are reduced by not only monitoring of conductivity, silica concentration and pH of treated water and feed water, but also frequent analysis of water and ion exchange resin for exchange capacity, strength, fouling, etc.
