The development of wind farms has taken unprecedented priority in recent times. Its fast integration to existing installations can result in overstress problems. This work analyses the overstress impact of the integration of new wind farms in the Brazilian Interconnected Power System. The analysis is focused on the largest producer substation of wind power in the country. Initially, the methodology of overstress analysis in high voltage installations is presented. Both short circuit and overload evaluations are considered. The results show that mitigating measures and operational strategies are fundamental actions to overcome the overstress problems without equipment replacing.
