The emission of greenhouse gases is widely recognized as being a major cause of global warming and a mix of strategic investment initiatives will be required if emissions are to be reduced. Areas of greatest focus include energy conservation, renewable energy production and carbon capture.rnIn the area of carbon capture, three strategies that are early contenders for commercialization include oxycombustion, amine capture and chilled ammonia processes. Cansolv Technologies Inc. has been especially active in the development of its amine based CO_2 capture process and is planning to build a demonstration unit that will be operational in early 2010, that will demonstrate its integrated SO_2 and CO_2 capture systems in an application that produces 50 tons per day of CO_2.rnThis paper discusses CTI's technologies and illustrates how they will be applied at demonstration and full scale projects.
