56th International Astronautical Congress 2005 in Fukuoka The outline of structural design and verification for the large opening of HTV

摘要

HTV is a transfer vehicle to carry cargoes to the International Space Station (ISS). This paper introduces the outline of HTV structural design and verification. For instance, HTV has a characteristic module, so-called Unpressurized Logistics Carrier (ULC), to carry experimental apparatuses used in environments exposed to the deep space. The ULC primary structure has the large opening to insert/pull out the Exposed Pallet which carries unpressurized cargoes, so the structural parts around the opening are appropriately reinforced. The structural design and verification had been performed in effective and well-considered study.
