The new RJ45 connection module brings undreamt-of mobility and flexibility to the workplace, absolute convenience to home offices, and more options to cabling systems. The new RJ45 connection module consists of a standard RJ45 connection with integral interfaces for plastic optical fiber (POF) and power supply. The new RJ45 connection is a strong stimulus for the development of a wider variety of applications and functions in the domain of enterprise cabling. The power solution supports IEEE802.3af and the POF solution is based on the IEEE1394b for residential cabling. This connection module fulfils the Layer 1-preconditions for Ubiquitous Computing and makes new, hybrid cabling solutions possible.
