Japanese families seldom invite visitors, especially foreigners, into their homes. They consider, with many apologies, their homes to be too small to host guests so entertaining often occurs in public locations. This presentation takes the audience "behind the scenes" to view Japanese kitchens and appliances. Information will also focus on consumer major and portable appliance ownership, and population density after the burst of the "bubble" and within the current volatile economic marketplace. Additional topics include a brief lok at gas-powered and consumer electronic appliances in addition to the varied-services "dominant landscape feature," the vending machine. The presentation will conculde with a brief look at the "poitical" state of current safety, liability, and energy efficiency issues along with a view of the emerging technology displayed in stores and utility company showrooms.
