Two Continuous Flight Auger (CFA, Starsol system) and two Driven Cast in Place (DCP) piles were instrumented and statically loaded to failure. Relative shaft frictions and toe resistances were obtained. The soil comprises hydraulic sandy fill with lenses of soft soils overlying dense sand. This paper addresses the relative performances of the piles with reference to the soil investigation. In particular, parameters monitored during the pile drilling are analysed and compared favourably with the CPT profiles.
