A newly modified CMA algorithm: Stop-and-Go-DDLMS CMA (SGD-CMA) for quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) signals is presented. It integrates conventional constant modulus algorithm (CMA) and decision-direct least-mean-square (DD-LMS) under Stop-and-Go principle. The SGD-CMA equalizer performs six times faster, rudimental MSE 3~5dB better than CMA, corrects a final phase ambiguity and decreases 82% of operation complexity while compared to the CMA+DDLMS equalizer increasing little hardware consumption. It is especially fit for Decision Feedback Equalization (DFE) structure. Simulations support SGD-CMA on all performance and characteristics, validating its feasibility and advantages.
