In this study the authors present results obtained on various finite cylindrical shells with hemispherical endcaps, with and without internal solder layers at the hemisphere/tube junctions. These are, first, experimental and numerical results on an object of external to internal radius ratio b/a equal to 0.97, then, experimental results on an object of ratio b/a equal to 0.99 and finally, experimental results on a truncated object (b/a = 0.97) without internal solder layer. The aim of this paper is to analyze the influence of the combined presence or absence (of one) of an internal solder layer ring and that of the A wave, on the acoustic backscattering by such objects in the case of axial incidence.
