In this paper we consider the problem of faded wireless imagernand video transmission schemes over Multi-Input Multi-rnOutput (MIMO) Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexingrn(OFDM) channels that are energy and the bandwidth constrained.rnA computationally inexpensive analytic mean squarernerror (MSE) Distortion Rate (D-R) estimator for progressivernwavelet coders which generates an exact D-R (distortion rate)rnfunction for 2-D and 3-D SPIHT algorithm is utilized fromrnour previous work. Using the D-R function, a joint sourcechannelrncoding scheme using optimal equal error protectionrn(EEP) is presented. Both analytic and Monte-Carlo simulationsrnare presented for image and video sources. A systemrnthat uses two transmit antennas and two receive antennas expendsrn12 dB less in energy per bit for the same performancernas a SISO system. Our results are also significantly better thanrnoutage probability JSCC schemes used by other authors. Thernjoint source-channel coding (JSCC) scheme demonstrates thatrnMIMO OFDM can achieve real-time high quality video transmissionrnin low energy regions and the system is robust againstrnthe delay spread and doppler frequency shift.
