Essential manifold reduction and nonlinear quasi-geostrophic waves

The quasigeostrophic equation is an important simplified model for geophysical flows. In this paper, the authors discuss the existence of steady zonally periodic quasigeostrophic waves, by using global invariant essential manifold reductions.
