Abstract: This paper summarizes the research activities of theoptical communications group at University of Aveiroand Institute of Telecommunications-Aveiro pole.Several activities like clock recovery systems, bothelectrical and all optical, electrical equalizers forvery high bit rate DST systems, post-detection filtersfor multigigabit optical receivers, soliton systems,simulation work on WDM, DST, EDFA and short pulsegeneration for high bit rate systems are presented.!37
