The relations between the viscosity and electrical conductivity in MxO-SiO2 (M=Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Li, Na, K) and CaO-AI2O3-SiO2-(MgO) melts have been studied. The data used are from either experimental measurement or theoretical model. It is very difficult to obtain both electrical conductivity and viscosity data simultaneously from experiments at the same composition in literatures because of the difficulty of high temperature measurements. It is found that the logarithm of viscosity varies linearly with the logarithm of conductivity, and the linear relations are different for MO-SiO2 system and M2OSiO2 system respectively; the relation is unchanged with the addition of AI2O3 to silicate melt. Therefore, when the valences of ions that dominant the charge transport are same, the relations between electrical and viscosity should be the same.
