Bypass Decoding-A Novel Reduced Complexity Decoding Technique for LDPC Coded MIMO-OFDM Systems

We employ low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes to improvernthe performance of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) orthogonalrnfrequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication systems. Wernshow that the performance of LDPC coded MIMO-OFDM systems is superiorrnto that of conventional convolutionally coded systems. The commonlyrnused technique for decoding LDPC codes is the sum-product algorithmrn(SPA), but it suffers from high implementation complexity. In thisrnpaper, we propose a novel decoding technique for LDPC coded MIMOOFDMrnsystems, called bypass decoding, that significantly reduces decodingrncomplexity without compromising performance.
