The semiconductor industry is helping to tailor building and fire codes so they will be suitable for specialized semiconductor FABS. The industry has already made significant progress in developing less hazardous plastics for tool construction. Recent changes having an effect on this industry's loss potential include larger wafers, smaller circuit geometry, more automation, new process enclosures, new materials and new chemical distribution systems. The semiconductor industry is addressing all these loss potentials. The semiconductor industry will continue to change on a daily basis. With this change will come new loss prevention challenges. Those involved in loss prevention need to be as informed and proactive as the production staff within this industry.
