This paper describes the POGO related data acquisition and evaluation during the H-2 first stage Captive Firing Test (CFT). Since the H-2 first stage can be POGO unstable without a suppression device (PSD), an accumulator type PSD is installed in the LOX feed system. In the CFT, the POGO prevention design was finally verified prior to the first launch. The CFT is the firing test performed combining the flight type tank structure and feed system. During the test, LOX feed system was sinusoidally excited and the LOX flow was perturbed by a piston pulser installed in the LOX feedline. Structural accelerations and pressure fluctuations of the feed system were measured. The CFT data confirmed that the PSD design was feasible for preventing the POGO. TF#1 was successfully launched on February 4, 1994. The flight data demonstrates that the H-2 first stage is POGO free and the vibrational environment is quite gentle for the payload.
