In this paper the dispersed combustion characteristics of Al-powder are studied, and corresponding experiments investigated this kind of dispersed combustion. With the process of dispersion by central charge explosion, Al-powder can be mixed and ignited dynamically in air or some other gas environment to form Al-powder clouds. Its dispersed combustion characteristic changes with the difference of central charge and its compounding. The framing photographs by CCD camera show the process is mainly dependent of the local flammability and then quickly extinguishes to a slow combustion as the spreading energy increases from 5.94kJ to 8.83kJ. Different from the combustion of Al-powder itself, a stronger secondary combustion wave will be obtained when Al-powder is firstly activated by a high-energy liquid fuel. The framing photographs of dispersed combustion and special combustion waves will be shown. The ignition mechanism and energy release process are also discussed in the paper.
