Spatial Revolutions in Newly Developed Residential Neighborhoods to Provide for Community Facilities and Developments

Komarock in Nairobi, a recent medium density housing neighborhood lacked any setting that could be used by community members to shop, recreate, or meet with one another. Protest against this has taken the form of illegal construction and uses. These have altered the overall character of the neighborhood. Some of the activities that take place as a result of illegal developments have changed its demography. For such neighborhoods to serve as an appropriate setting for a healthy community two recommendations are necessary. First, the planning should incorporate appropriate settings for community activities. Second, neighborhood should have a community forum.
