Space vehicles are usually designed for operations in environments, differing much from the conditions we have on the Earth's surface. Therefore challenging simulation environments are to be established to test the spacecrafts before launch. In this context techniques related to mechatronic systems as well as computer simulations play an important role. At the example of a Planetary Rover, which had to be validated for Mars environment, the related test equipment to simulate the different gravity and environment conditions will be addressed. Details about the rover design, the test environment and the included mechatronic devices, the control challenges as well as the tele-operations scenario including controls with delays are presented.
