摘要

The equations governing a time-dependent compressible flow are first discussed to bring out the key features associated with compressibility and the limiting behavior at low speed. Concepts of linear eigenmodes representing vortical, entropic and acoustic disturbances are introduced via analysis of disturbances in a compressible paralel shear flow. Linear and nonlinear coupling of such modes is stressed.
