摘要

Recently Czech population did not meditate about potentiality to take direct part in large-scale natural disaster. The events during 12 days in July 1997 basic changed their delusion. So called "1000 years flood" stroked 34 districts mainly in Morava, Becva and Odra catchment (Northern and Southern Moravia) and caused enormous losses. Remote sensing is considered as an effective means for the control and analyses of fast natural hazards such as floods. The both satellite images and aerial photography were some of several sources of information used for evaluation of scope and consequence mentioned heavy floods in Central Moravia. Expert study of discussed nature hazard was done on the order of Czech Ministry of Environment by several governmental institutes (e.g. T. G. Masaryk Water Research Institute, Czech Hydrometeorological Institute) and private companies (e.g. Help Service - Mapping. MGE DATA). There is weighty demonstrated the employ of satellite data for achievement of required goals.
