Unique applications of diamond and diamond-like carbon for use as tools or components

摘要

In part I of the presentation, end milling experiments of ferrous material (pre-hardened steel) using tools vibrated ultrasonically that have shown a significantly long life compared with TiAlN-coated cemented carbide tools are introduced. In part II, experiments in which diamond-like carbon coated gears showed significant improvement of life time over non-coated ones when used under a loss- of- lubrication or an aqueous condition are introduced.
