Accelerated Replacement of the 4500 South Bridge over I-215 in Salt Lake City, UT Using SPMTs

The 4500 South Bridge over I-215 required immediate replacement due to rapid deterioration of the substructure concrete. UDOT implemented the Construction Manager/General Contractor procurement method and Accelerated Bridge Construction techniques to progress construction quickly. The project moved from concept to finished construction in less than 9 months. The bridge was constructed off-site and with a weekend closure of the interstate, the existing bridge was removed and the new bridge was moved into place using self propelled modular transporters.
