Bridge Deck Deterioration is a major problem throughout the United States. Many Highway Departments are making the decision to preserve existing bridge deck facilities rather than replace them because long term structural repairs can now be performed cost effectively and during low traffic periods (nights & weekends). By placing Rapid Set Latex Modified Concrete Overlays on Total Surface Hydrodemolition Prepared Surfaces, an owner can repair and preserve bridge decks for 25 years with minimum traffic impacts. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation performed a project in 2007 where 21 bridge decks on the SR 376 Parkway in Pittsburgh, PA were structurally repaired in just 14 weekends.
