摘要

Three poplar clones named ‘Baldo’ ’Imola‘, and ‘Orion’ recently selected for biomass production wererntested in Casale Monferrato (Italy) at a density of 1111 trees per hectare and 5 years’ rotation. The average biomassrnyield (dry matter) was 16.0 t ha~(-1) year~(-1) and the differences among the clones are not statistically significant. Amongrnthe different types of poplar plantation for the production of biomass, this model can guarantee high productions ofrnmaterial of satisfactory quality as well as low costs of planting, great elasticity of rotation length (4-7 years) and thernpossibility of producing raw material both for industrial use (packaging, particle-board, pulp for paper) and forrnenergy production (wood chips).
