SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION OF INNOVATIVE BIOBASED INGREDIENTS FOR COSMETIC PRODUCTS

OPTIBIOCAT is an European 7th Framework Programme project (theme KBBE.2013.3.3-04), aimingrnat developing biocatalysts based on feruloyl esterases (FAEs) and glucuronoyl esterases (GEs) for production ofrnantioxidants for cosmetic industry, expanding the number/type of industrial biotransformations. The multidisciplinaryrnproject consortium is composed of 16 partners including 8 SMEs, 1 large company, universities and researchrninstitutes, from 8 EU countries. This paper focuses on our process engineering approach from the laboratoryrntowards the future technical production at industrial scale, to meet the needs of cosmetic industry. Both, thernproduction of the innovative biocatalyst as well as its use in the production of antioxidants is taken into account.
