There is a growing demand on remotely sensed andrnGIS data services in modern society. However, conventionalrnWEB applications based on client/server pattern can not meetrnthe criteria in the future. Grid computing provides a promisingrnresolution for establishing spatial information system towardrnfuture applications. Here, a new architecture of the distributedrnenvironment for remotely sensed data processing based on thernmiddleware technology was proposed. In addition, in order tornutilize the new environment, a problem had to bernalgorithmically expressed as comprising a set of concurrentlyrnexecuting sub-problems or tasks. Experiment of the algorithmrnwas implemented, and the results show that the newrnenvironmental can achieve high speedups for applicationsrncompared with conventional implementation.
