Amphiphilic block copolymers are known to form self-assembled structures by micellization in water and hence, diblock copolymer based systems have been widely explored as polymer therapeutics.' In the present work, self-assembled nanoparticles have been prepared from radical copolymerization of a hydrophobic monomer, oleyl -2-acetamide -2-deoxy -a-D-glucopiranoside methacrylate (OAGMA), with a hydrophilic monomer, vinyl pyrrolidone (VP), which have very different polarity and reactivity.2 Characterization of the self-assembled nanostructures has been attempted by comparison with that of copolymeric films of the same copolymer composition.
