An adaptive unstructured grid refinementrntechnique has been developed and successfullyrnapplied to several three dimensional inviscidrnflow test cases. The method is based on arncombination of surface mesh subdivision andrnlocal remeshing of the volume grid. Simplernfunctions of flow quantities are employed torndetect dominant features of the flowfield. Thernmethod is designed for modular coupling withrnvarious error/feature analyzers and flowrnsolvers. Several steady-state, inviscid flowrntest cases are presented to demonstrate thernapplicability of the method for solvingrnpractical three-dimensional problems. In allrncases, accurate solutions featuring complex,rnnonlinear flow phenomena such as shockrnwaves and vortices have been generatedrnautomatically and efficiently.
