In general, pulsed thermography could be used as a cost-effective alternative when automated UT C-scanning is not available or possible however its depth limitations should be kept in mind and the results should be verified using selective localized contact UT. It should be noted that other emerging techniques such as vibrothermography [3-5] and shearography [6] are also available for inspection of composites and their potential is being investigated at the NRC Institute for Aerospace Research.
