Dibasic Ester: A Low Risk, Green Organic Solvent Alternative

Over 12 billion pounds of solvents are sold globally each year and they will continue to be valued chemicals in many market industries. However, health and environmental regulations are increasingly driving solvent selection. The paper presents a new tool, the vapor hazard ratio (VHR), that aids one in selecting a safe organic solvent. Also, the paper describes Dibasic Ester (DBE) which is a safe environmentally friendly organic solvent derived from a plant byproduct stream.
